The Learning Manifesto

For too long, traditional classroom instruction has been created on the assumptions that they should be fact-based. In the corporate world too, most of the training and lecture content is printed on powerpoint slides. Some might not know that this is not the most effective way to teach or learn. The Problems we face with this approach are, learners lose interest during the training or lecturing session and/or they can not retain the information given to them. Various research has shown brain-based learning techniques are most helpful. Brains normal process is to learn new information or enhance any information. As long as the brain is not prohibited from fulfilling its normal process, learning will occur.

To make you training interactive, there are brain science principles which you can count on.

  1. Movement Over Sitting
  2. Writing Over Reading
  3. Talking Over Listening
  4. Different Over Same
  5. Shorter Over Longer
  6. Images Over Words

Next time, when you are building a content for your training session, focus on the left side and observe the learning your learners gain post delivery.

The above brain science principles are based on Sharon Bowman’s Training From Back Of the Room training techniques.
