Emotional Stages of adopting a change

In today’s market and corporate environment, there are numbers of strategies which explains how to implement agile methodologies in any organization. There are also various stages which guide organization to get through this change. As an organization embarks on the journey of adopting agile and change the way it works, It is important and beneficial to keep a check on organization emotions it goes through. Organizations run by people and people run by emotions. Positive emotion can take an organization to the highest level of success or negative emotions can break the organization. Addressing the emotional change during the course of implementing a change might bring fruitfull result. The stages of change are:

  •  Pre-contemplation (Not yet acknowledging that there is a problem behavior that needs to
    be changed)
  •  Contemplation (Acknowledging that there is a problem but not yet ready or sure of
    wanting to make a change)
  •  Preparation/Determination (Getting ready to change)
  •  Action/Willpower (Changing behavior)
  •  Maintenance (Maintaining the behavior change) and
  •  Relapse (Returning to older behaviors and abandoning the new changes)
