The Three Bricklayers
One fine morning, a woman decided to change the route of her routine morning walk and then thought to pass by an ongoing construction. While brisk walking, she heard a conversation between a Man and three bricklayers.
Coincidentally, the conversation was finished by the time she walked past the construction site. Over the remaining journey of her walk back to her home, she was deeply engaged with her own thoughts.
She said to herself, “the men, three different attitudes, all doing the same job”
And she continued thinking:
“The conversation reveals that the purpose has the power to transform not only our attitude toward the work we do but the quality of work as well.”
“Attitude – Your attitude could do wonders. Your attitude towards whatever you doing could determine your ultimate level of success. When you are enthusiastic and proud of your work, it will definitely show up in your work. You choose your attitude each and every day and the choice you make will determine your success.”
“See the Big Picture – seeing big picture inspires solutions to challenges, motivates to continue. One thing which differentiates is from Animals is imagination. Being able to see big picture, imagining the end result, helps to crush the obstacles and motivates to excel”
You must be thinking what was that conversation about? Well, I will not hold that for longer.
The Three bricklayers were doing their job and each one of them was asked what were they doing.
The first man answered “ I am laying Bricks”
The second man answered “I am putting up a wall”
But the third man said enthusiastically and with pride “I am building a cathedral” – Unknown.
